Indian spiced tofu steak with fresh mango chutney 

We are delighted to see that Smaakmakend magazine in the Netherlands regularly publishes recipes using tofu. Here the tofu goes on the barbecue!

Dinner / serves four / 30 minutes


1 block of tofu, 250 g – 2 Tbsp. Greek yogurt – lime juice – 2 Tbsp. Indian curry paste – 1 small mango, chopped small – 1 tsp finely chopped chili pepper – 2 spring onions, in rings – lime juice

TIP: tasty with naan bread and a kohlrabi salad with ginger dressing.


1. Remove the tofu from its packaging. Cut the block in half and then cut each half in two lengthwise. Wrap in kitchen roll and squeeze the liquid out of the tofu.

2. Beat the yogurt with the curry paste and add lime juice to taste to make a marinade. Brush it over the tofu steaks and leave to marinate for 10-15 minutes.

3. Mix the mango, chili pepper and spring onions to make a salsa and add lime juice to taste.

4. Brush the tofu steaks with oil and grill them on the barbecue or fry them in a dry frying pan for a few minutes until they are brown on the outside and hot inside. Serve with the mango salsa.
